Oliver Salonga

Praised for his emotional energy and technical finesse, Oliver Salonga has performed in the concert halls of the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia, and China. His appearances include solo recitals, chamber music collaboration, and appearances with orchestra.


Born in Manila, Philippines, Oliver was regarded as  a child  prodigy. He  gave  his  first 

solo  recital at the age of 11 in Cultural Center of the Philippines. Winning the First Prize in the National Music Competition for the Young Artists in 1998 brought Oliver national recognition.  He secured his reputation of a promising young Filipino pianist by winning the First Prize in the same competition in 2001. In 2003, he graduated from the Philippine High School for the Arts and was unanimously named the Outstanding Graduate of Music.

Oliver Salonga was a prize-winner in the following prestigious competitions: 2008 Florida International Piano Competition, 2010 Hilton Head International Piano Competition, 2011 Scottish International Piano Competition, 2015 China Steinway Piano Competition, and Yamaha Piano Competition in China. He also won the Gold Medal at the 2010 Jeonju International Piano Competition in South Korea.

Oliver Salonga received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California. He also received his Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was awarded the Zellen Piano Prize in 2009. Over the years, Oliver has received guidance from outstanding pianists, such as Jerome Lowenthal, Robert McDonald, John O’Connor, John Perry, Sergei Babayan, Alexei Kornienko, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Dr. Roberta Rust, and Norman Krieger and Dr. Angela Cholakian.

Oliver Salonga has performed with Jeonju Symphony, Manila Symphony Orchestra, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. His solo performances were radio broadcasted and live streamed at Hilton Head Classical Radio Station, WXEL 90.7, DZFE 98.7 and Dulwich College, UK.

Currently, Dr. Oliver Salonga is holding position of Piano Professor at FaceArt Institute of Music in Shanghai, China. Loyal to his roots, Oliver teaches masterclasses to the young generation of Filipino pianists. The list includes Cultural Center of the Philippines, University of the Philippines, Philippine High School for the Arts, University of St. Tomas Manila, St. Paul University Manila, and Children’s Talent Education Center in the Philippines.
